No one wants to wake up and deal with a plumbing repair. However, these repairs arise everyday in the DC Metro and need to be handled, which is in large part why James Vito, Inc. has been in business for 78 years. There are many small repairs that will simply remain small if homeowners take some very simple steps. First, make sure you have a service agreement that will inspect your home at least once a year for plumbing. For HVAC we recommend an agreement that inspects twice a year. Second, make sure you know where your main water shut off valve is located. This is typically there is only one water line that enters your house and one valve that turns off the water should there be a leak. Third, make sure you know how to shut off your water heater should it encounter problems or leak. In addition, make sure there is a contractors sticker / label on the heater for ease of calling. There are inexpensive water detection devices that can be purchased the automatically shut off your heater and water lines if a leak is to occur. No doubt small problems can become larger ones, but if you implement these easy / basic steps you will certainly reduce your risk.
